WomanSpace Permanent Housing
Since May 2002, WomanSpace has provided affordable, permanent housing with intensive support services for women with HIV/AIDS who need help stabilizing their lives due to mental health and substance use disorders. Located in downtown Wilmington, this program fills a significant gap in a community with an extraordinarily high rate of HIV/AIDS infection. WomanSpace accommodates ten women and has two apartments suitable for women with children. Connections CSP provides 24-hour staffing, onsite case management and supportive services, and access to comprehensive community-based services, including: support groups, individual and group counseling, education programs, job training, and life skills programming.
Applicants are referred by HIV/AIDS service providers. WomanSpace is funded by federal Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) dollars.
