Prevention Committee
HIV Prevention Community Planning is a collaborative process through which health departments partner with community planning groups to design local prevention plans that best represent the needs of the various communities at risk for or infected with HIV. The Delaware HIV Consortium facilitates Delaware's Prevention Community Planning Group.
The HIV Prevention Community Planning Group meets monthly in Dover to draft recommendations for a system of prevention care and harm reduction. Active members adhere to membership guidelines and sign a letter of commitment to vote on pertinent issues. Non-active members do not vote but receive information and updates on planning activities and can attend committee meetings without being held to attendance requirements.
Tasks are accomplished in work groups which, depending on timelines, meet frequently. Active members are expected to participate in the work groups. Non-active members can also participate.
Recruitment is open for active membership during the months of September through March. If you are interested in joining the Prevention Community Planning Group or would like more information, please contact Renna Van Oot, Community Planning Specialist at (302) 654-5471 or e-mail Renna Van Oot.
